It takes a special breed to be an Arenacross racer. Riders, racers, athletes, heroes, call them what you will, all the afore-mentioned adjectives apply. Racing Arenacross needs total commitment, determination, desire and bravery. These guys and gals are some of the fittest, most committed athletes in the world. Of course, they make it look easy and effortless, but it’s not. Arenacross is an intense aerobic workout while your brain computes overtime, making nanosecond decisions and sending commands to the rest of your body. We’ll be bringing you the names of those lining up on the start gate shortly!
By their very nature, Arenacross tracks are intense but fun for the racers and the fans. Thousands of tons of soil are brought into each arena, and the Arenacross track build team is set to work on sculpturing obstacles so the racers can challenge themselves and their motorcycles for your viewing pleasure. Expect to hear words such as the ‘whoops section’ (a straight of smaller bumps where the racers try to skim across the top of them, and the ‘rhythm section’ (a series of jumps in varying sizes and distances that allows the riders to get creative as they can) and of course, the ‘finish line jump’ (where the racers fly 60-80 feet through the air, 25-30 feet above the arena floor, more often than not only a few feet apart).
